Dharma Krung Legal Practice

Our Firm, Our Practice

A Bangkok-based legal practice built on considered advice, documented precision, and a deep understanding of Thai commercial law.

Our Story

Dharma Krung was established in Bangkok in 2010 by a group of Thai-qualified legal practitioners who recognised a gap in the market: businesses operating in Thailand — particularly those with international shareholders or cross-border operations — were underserved by firms that prioritised volume over careful, personalised counsel.

The name reflects our founding philosophy. In Thai legal tradition, the concept of Dharma is closely associated with justice, order, and correct conduct. Krung — a word embedded in Bangkok's full ceremonial name — anchors us firmly in the capital where we practice. Together, they speak to a practice that is both principled and grounded.

Since 2010, we have assisted over 480 businesses through entity formation, more than 300 commercial contract engagements, and an expanding portfolio of intellectual property work for Thai and international clients. Our practice has grown steadily, always by referral, never by advertising.

We are a mid-sized firm by design. That scale allows us to maintain meaningful relationships with every client, ensure continuity of counsel, and deliver work of consistent quality without the pressures that come from managing a very large case volume.

Our Mission

To provide structured, precise legal counsel that allows businesses to operate with clarity and confidence within Thailand's commercial and regulatory environment — without unnecessary complexity or ambiguity.

Our Values

  • Precision: Every document, every clause, every filing receives careful attention before delivery.
  • Transparency: Fees, timelines, and scope are agreed in writing before work begins.
  • Continuity: Clients work with the same practitioner throughout an engagement, not a rotating team.
  • Restraint: We advise on what is necessary, not what generates the most billable hours.

Our Team

Each practitioner at Dharma Krung holds a specialist focus. Clients benefit from deep expertise rather than generalist handling of complex matters.

Standards & Protocols

Our working practices reflect the standards required by the Thai Bar Association and the expectations of international clients accustomed to structured, documented legal engagements.

Thai Bar Association Membership

All practising attorneys at Dharma Krung hold current membership and are in good standing with the Lawyers Council of Thailand.

Client Confidentiality Protocol

All client information is handled under strict confidentiality obligations. Data is stored on encrypted systems with access limited to the assigned team members.

Documented Engagement Scope

Every client engagement begins with a signed letter of engagement setting out scope, timeline, fees, and the assigned practitioner — no ambiguity, no open-ended billing.

Document Review Process

All legal documents undergo an internal review before delivery to clients — prepared by one practitioner, reviewed by a second, and approved by a partner before issuance.

Thai Commercial Law Compliance

All work is prepared with reference to current Thai legislation, DBD guidelines, and where applicable, the Foreign Business Act — updated on an ongoing basis as regulations change.

Data Protection Compliance

Client data handling complies with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA 2019), with documented retention policies and client consent procedures in place.

Legal Counsel in Bangkok for Businesses Across Thailand

Dharma Krung operates from its Sathorn office in Bangkok, one of Thailand's principal commercial districts. The firm serves domestic Thai businesses, foreign-invested companies, SMEs, and entrepreneurs navigating the Thai regulatory environment. Three focused practice areas — corporate formation, contract advisory, and intellectual property — allow the firm to develop and maintain genuine depth rather than spreading across a broad, unfocused service range.

Thai commercial law presents specific requirements for foreign nationals and overseas investors: foreign business licences, minority shareholder structures, Department of Business Development registration procedures, and Board of Investment promotional frameworks all require careful navigation. Dharma Krung's team has worked within this environment for over a decade and understands both the formal legal requirements and the practical steps that determine whether a formation or filing proceeds smoothly.

Contract work at Dharma Krung reflects a belief that legal documents should be practically useful, not merely formally correct. A contract that cannot be understood by the parties who sign it, or that lacks enforceable dispute resolution provisions, may offer less protection than it appears to. The firm's contract advisory practice begins with a thorough understanding of the client's commercial intent before drafting commences.

Thailand's intellectual property system, administered by the Department of Intellectual Property under the Ministry of Commerce, provides meaningful protections for trademarks, patents, and copyrights — but those protections require proactive registration and monitoring. Dharma Krung's IP practice supports businesses in identifying what requires protection and building a filing strategy that reflects commercial priorities rather than a blanket approach.
